Bowland Forest Low, Lancashire, England

Browsholme Hall

Browsholme Hall

Browsholme Hall is a privately owned Elizabethan house and is claimed to be the oldest surviving family home in Lancashire. Since 1954, it has been designated a Grade I listed building by English Heritage. It is now an exclusive wedding venue.

The house is home to a reputed magical skull, believed to date from around 1537-8, although Brooks does not state what the magical properties are.

However, the skull seems to object to being moved from the house, and serious incidents have reportedly occured when that has happened. Consequently, it is now locked away securely in the house.
